Welcome to SMT Electro
SMT Electro is an independent online publication that helps homeowners choose smart home devices and home and kitchen appliances with confidence. We publish in-depth buying guides, honest reviews and clear comparisons of smart plugs, video doorbells, security cameras, smart locks, thermostats, air purifiers, kitchen appliances and more — written for ordinary homes, with a focus on readers in the United States.
What We Publish
Buying guides that compare the best products in a category side by side. Head-to-head comparisons, such as Google Home vs Alexa vs Apple HomeKit. And plain-English explainers — such as our guide to the Matter standard — that help you understand the technology before you spend money on it.
How We Research and Choose Products
Every guide starts with manufacturer specifications and pricing from major US retailers. We then study expert reviews and verified feedback from real owners to see how products perform after months of use, not just on day one. We look at the full cost of ownership, including subscriptions, replacement filters and accessories, because the cheapest device is often not the cheapest to own. When a better model arrives or prices change meaningfully, we update our picks. Manufacturers cannot pay to be featured or ranked on SMT Electro.
How This Site Is Supported
SMT Electro is a free publication supported by advertising. Ads may appear on this site through networks such as Google AdSense, which helps cover the cost of researching and maintaining our guides. Advertising never influences which products we recommend or how we rank them.
Our Promise to Readers
We write the guide we would want to read before spending our own money: clear winners, honest downsides, and no hype. If you spot an error in any guide, or a product you bought on our recommendation let you down, tell us through our Contact page — corrections and reader feedback genuinely shape our updates.
Thank you for visiting SMT Electro.
